This piece, based on Acts 2, contains a section from Joel which is quoted by the writer of Acts. This section can be lifted from the rest of the piece and used as a simple chant, a hymn, or a three part chorale with flute. 3-4 minutes.

#203 Dark Winter, Words and music by Connie Tyler
Four part Chorale, harp and drum.
This “winter carol” has verses about the winter solstice, celebrated by many preChristian religions; Judaism’s Hanukah, a celebration of the renewal of faith in difficult times; Christmas, the birth of the Christian Mesiah; Mi’raj al-Nabiv, when Muslims celebrate the night the Angel Gabriel took the Prophet Mohammed from Mecca to Jerusalem and on to the gates of heaven; and Kawansaa, a holiday created in the 1960’s by African Americans who decided to create a new tradition to replace those that had been torn from them by slavery. They all have in common the use of candles as part of the traditional ritual. Additional verses celebrating the holidays of other religions would be welcome. 3 minutes.
